Nunn Introduces Resolution Recognizing May as Renewable Fuels Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) introduced a resolution designating May 2025 as Renewable Fuels Month. This resolution recognizes the vital role that renewable fuels like ethanol and biodiesel play in strengthening rural economies, reducing energy costs, and supporting American energy independence. U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) leads the companion resolution in the Senate. “Iowa’s biofuel industry is a national leader because we trust our farmers and fuel producers to drive energy innovation,” said Rep. Nunn . “Recognizing May as Renewable Fuels Month highlights how renewable biofuels are powering America’s energy growth, strengthening our energy independence, and fueling a stronger future for Iowa’s farmers and families.” Iowa continues to lead the nation in the production and use of renewable fuels. In 2022, renewable fuels accounted for 57,000 Iowa jobs and $7.2 billion of Iowa GDP according to the The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. “Renewable fuels like ethanol and biodiesel are a win for Nebraska and a win for America,” said Senator Ricketts . “They save consumers money, support Nebraska agriculture, protect our environment, and promote American energy independence. I appreciate the bipartisan support for this resolution and call on all Americans to choose renewable fuels.” Text of the resolution can be found here . ###
