Cornyn: Bexar County to Receive Nearly $1M to Support Law Enforcement, Enhance Public Safety News Cornyn: Bexar County to Receive Nearly $1M to Support Law Enforcement, Enhance Public Safety August 18, 2026 AUSTIN – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded $973,878 in federal grant funding to Bexar County to enhance public safety and help law enforcement conduct investigations of domestic or sexual violence and abuse, including by supporting the Adult Treatment Court Collaborative and the Women’s Mental Health Court. The funding comes from the DOJ’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, which Sen. Cornyn voted to fund as part of last year’s Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act . “ There is a domestic violence epidemic in the United States, and we owe it to survivors, victims, and the American people to get dangerous attackers off our streets, ” said Sen. Cornyn. “ This funding will equip law enforcement with the tools and resources needed to improve operational readiness and public safety outcomes . ”
