Hoeven Securing Federal Support for New Facilities at Dickinson Airport

DICKINSON, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today outlined work with local, state and federal officials to build new facilities at the Dickinson-Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport. As a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Committee, Hoeven is working to secure federal support for new facilities, including: $55 Million New Terminal The senator is working to get final approval for $13 million in federal funding for the new terminal. $67.8 Million Runway Project Hoeven secured nearly $50 million in federal funding to reconstruct and extend the runway. Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Facility The senator recently secured $2.5 million in federal funds for the final phase of construction. Hoeven joined local and state officials at the groundbreaking for the terminal project, which will replace the existing terminal with a new approximately 20,000 sq ft. terminal. Hoeven organized a meeting in 2022 to kick off the project and help identify potential funding opportunities to help move the effort forward. The new terminal will include expanded lounging and dining options, a single-level layout to enhance accessibility, and a new jetway allowing passengers to board planes without being exposed to outdoor elements. The Dickinson-Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport recently completed a runway reconstruction and expansion project, which added 900 feet to the runway length, making it 7,300 feet long. Hoeven secured nearly $50 million in federal funding for the runway reconstruction and extension project. In total, the airport received approximately a total of $67.8 million in federal, state and local funding for the project. More recently, Dickinson-Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport was awarded $2.425 million in federal funds to expand the airport’s ARFF facility. The funding supports a 2,692-square-foot expansion of the facility and the final phase of construction. “Investing in our rural airports is essential to supporting economic growth, public safety and connectivity across North Dakota,” said Hoeven. “These upgrades in Dickinson will help ensure the airport can continue to serve the region effectively. The new terminal will improve the travel experience with residents, visitors and business alike while helping meet the growing demand we expect with the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. This airport will serve as a gateway to western North Dakota and everything our state has to offer.” -###-
