The report draws on interviews with election officials from 10 geographically and politically diverse Georgia counties to assess the readiness of local administrators. Despite President Trump’s repeated, unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud, election officials interviewed across Georgia overwhelmingly expressed confidence in the security of the 2026 elections. “While President Trump continues to promote baseless lies to incite fear and chaos ahead of the midterms, Georgia’s election officials are doing the important work of ensuring every vote is securely counted,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “It is now up to Congress to implement meaningful safeguards that maintain election integrity by protecting and supporting those on the frontlines.” Based on interviews with election officials from counties governed by Democratic-led, Republican-led, and nonpartisan Board of Commissioners, Senator Warnock’s report affirms that local election administrators across Georgia feel well-equipped and prepared to manage the 2026 November elections. While confidence in election security is high among the Georgia officials interviewed, officials agreed that additional federal funding for election administration and security would help further strengthen their work. In response to the new findings , Senator Warnock is calling on Congress to immediately pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act , which would restore key protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 , and the Freedom to Vote Act , which would create national standards for early, absentee, and in-person voting; prevent partisan takeovers of local election administration; and improve election security. Additionally, he is urging his colleagues to support funding for the Election Assistance Commission’s Election Security Grant program to help county election boards modernize voting systems and infrastructure, maintain accurate voter registration databases, recruit and train poll workers, and keep elections safe and secure. Senator Warnock is a leading voting rights advocate. Last month, he released a report examining the additional hurdles married women would face when registering to vote or updating their voter registration if the SAVE America Act were enacted. Earlier this year, he unveiled a comprehensive policy agenda to repair and strengthen American democracy in the wake of escalating attacks on the right to vote. Following the Supreme Court’s decision to gut the Voting Rights Act in April, Senator Warnock argued that voting rights legislation must be the number one priority for Democrats when they regain the majority in the U.S. Senate.
