Congressman Flood Names Madison Middle Schooler as First District’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge Winner

Image November 26, 2025 Press Release LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood announced Madison Middle School student Avery Stueckrath as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Nebraska’s First District. Stueckrath designed a webpage using JavaScript to showcase her coding skills by illustrating scenes and images of herself, her hobbies, and her cats through custom-designed shapes. “Every year, I am impressed by the talent and skills our schools are developing across the First District,” said Congressman Flood. “Avery Steuckrath’s webpage design and coding skills – paired with her persistence during development – are yet another example of how Nebraska continues to build its reputation as the 'Silicon Prairie.' I want to thank all the students who submitted their projects for this year’s App Challenge and encourage students interested in developing their coding skills to join next year’s competition." Avery Stueckrath, the daughter of Jesse and Jackie Stueckrath, is an 8th grader at Madison Middle School. She was encouraged to design the webpage by her technology teacher, Bobbie Middleton. Stueckrath's submission was reviewed by a committee of professionals working in the start-up and digital community from the First Congressional District. Each year, Congress hosts the 'Congressional App Challenge,' a competition among students from every Congressional District to design an app and promote student engagement in computer science.
