PHOTO RELEASE: Senator Ashley Moody Joins Victoria’s Voice Foundation to Bring Awareness to Lifesaving Overdose Reversal Drug Naloxone

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Senator AshleyMoody joined the Victoria’s Voice Foundation to share remarks at their 3rdAnnual National Naloxone Awareness Day celebration event on Capitol Hill. TheVictoria’s Voice Foundation was founded following David and Jackie Siegel’s worstnightmare when their 18-year-old daughter Victoria died of a drug overdose onJune 6, 2015. Following this horrific event, David and Jackie foundedVictoria’s Voice whose mission is committed to turning the tragedy ofVictoria’s death into a national platform for drug awareness, prevention andsaving lives from overdose.

Additionally, SenatorAshley Moody and Senator Rick Scott introduced the National Naloxone AwarenessDay resolution to mark June 6, 2025, as Naloxone Awareness Day. It has beenendorsed by Victoria’s Voice.

Senator Ashley Moodysaid, “Fentanyl isnow found in every type of illicit substance: counterfeit pills, cocaine,marijuana, and methamphetamines. It is potent, it is pervasive, and it isunforgiving. In Florida we are taking action. After six years serving asFlorida’s Attorney General, I was able to announce a significant reduction inthe number of fentanyl deaths in our state. Florida saw an 11% drop in fentanyldeaths in 2023. During the same timeframe, the national average of decline wasjust 2%. And in 2024, Florida saw an even greater decline of 31%. We have madeprogress, but the work is not done. Today, I am pleased to announce theintroduction of the National Naloxone Awareness Day Resolution with SenatorScott and the Victoria’s Voice Foundation. It is vital that we bring awarenessto this lifesaving overdose reversal drug and continue enacting smart policiesthat keep our communities and families safe.”

Jackie Siegel, co-founder of Victoria’sVoice Foundation,said,“National Naloxone Awareness Day is vital to further heighten awareness of thedrug crisis and the urgency of expanding naloxone access and use in order tosave as many lives as possible from opioid overdose. We are grateful to Sen.Ashley Moody for her strong support and her ongoing leadership in addressingthe opioid crisis.”
