Statement from U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez on Supreme Court Ruling Endangering Birthright Citizenship

June 27, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on nationwide injunctions, which could help pave the way for the Trump administration to erode birthright citizenship in the U.S.: “Today, the Supreme Court failed in their basic duty to uphold our Constitution. The 14th Amendment guarantees that anyone born on U.S. soil is a citizen, period. That promise has been a cornerstone of our democracy for more than 150 years, and this decision opens the door for extreme politicians to rewrite our country’s most sacred documents to fit their political agendas.
