Whitehouse Statement on Supreme Court Effectively Ending Nationwide Injunctions

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Courts Subcommittee, today released the following statement after the far-right majority on the Supreme Court issued a ruling effectively ending nationwide injunctions: “While we need to see how this decision plays out in practice, it clearly makes it harder for courts to protect Americans from President Trump’s most blatantly unconstitutional actions.  The Court That Dark Money Built has been captured by big political interests.  It is operating as an openly political instrument, unmoored from legal precedent and constitutional duty.”
