Cantwell Statement on Federal Emergency Declaration Amid Extreme Flooding in WA

TUKWILA, WA –Today, Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson announced that he’d received a phone call from Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem informing him that President Donald Trump had signed Gov. Ferguson’s request for an emergency declaration amid extreme flooding in Washington state.
U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA issued the following statement:

Yesterday, Sen. Cantwell -- who serves as ranking member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and senior member of the Finance Committee -- joined Washington state’s entire congressional delegation in aletterto President Trump urging him to approve Gov. Ferguson’s request for an expedited Emergency Declaration for the devastating storms and severe flooding hitting Washington state this week.
