Courtney Statement on Fatal ICE Shooting in Minneapolis
January 8, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) released the following statement on the fatal shooting by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. “I send my deepest condolences to the family of Renee Nicole Good. Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem’s incendiary conclusions of the appalling shooting in Minneapolis before the victim was identified were completely irresponsible and dangerous,” Courtney said. “As evidence from the video and actual information on Renee Nicole Good has come to light, it’s clear that Secretary Noem and the White House were more interested in whitewashing the actions of the ICE agents than ascertaining the truth. An outside neutral investigation, incorporating the Minneapolis Police Department, is critically important to establish confidence that this horrific event will result in accountability. Secretary Noem should resign." ###
