Thompson Releases Statement Condemning U.S. Refusal to Stand WITH Ukraine

February 25, 2025 Press Release Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement in response to the United States’ vote against a United Nations resolution condemning Russian aggression in Ukraine and calling for the return of Ukrainian territory: “Three years ago, Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale illegal invasion of Ukraine, beginning the largest land war in Europe since World War II. Since then, the Ukrainian people have withstood a brutal assault on their democracy and their freedom. “The United States’ refusal to condemn Putin’s deadly war isn’t just shameful — it is inconceivable. “Putin’s aggression has cost thousands of innocent lives and undermined our national security. The United States is a global leader. We have a responsibility to fight authoritarianism and to help our allies defend themselves against attacks on their freedom. “I unequivocally condemn the United States’ vote at the United Nations.
