Welch Statement on Earth Day

BURLINGTON, VT – U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) today released the following statement commemorating Earth Day: “Fighting the climate crisis has become more urgent by the day. But instead of meeting the moment, President Trump has taken a wrecking ball to the essential environmental programs we need to secure a more sustainable future. On day one of his second term, President Trump removed us from the Paris Climate Agreement. And in the days since, he’s eliminated regulations for corporate polluters at the expense of our environment and public health, gutted our National Parks, and suspended programs that would make the U.S. a global leader in renewable technologies. He’s hurting green jobs, and a green future,” said Senator Welch . “This Earth Day, we renew our commitment to doing everything we can to protect America’s great outdoors and our planet.” ###
