Blumenthal Statement on Supreme Court Ruling Upholding Birthright Citizenship
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) today released the below statement following the Supreme Court of the United States’ decision in Trump v. Barbara to uphold automatic citizenship for children born in the United States: “Today's decision is an incredible relief to the thousands of United States citizens born on American soil, whose citizenship is incontrovertible. In America we follow the language of the Constitution, not the edicts of pretend Kings. Although I am heartened by the Supreme Court's majority decision in this case, birthright citizenship should never have been up for debate. I know this is not the end of the Trump Administration's attacks on immigrant communities and I will never stop fighting for our Constitutional rights.” -30-
