Cantwell Statement on Supreme Court TikTok Decision

01.17.25 Cantwell Statement on Supreme Court TikTok Decision WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released this statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the law requiring the sale of TikTok: “The Supreme Court’s 9-0 decision confirmed that there’s a real ‘there’ there when it comes to foreign agents’ influence on TikTok and the threat to national security. I hope the Trump administration will find a solution to shut the Chinese government backdoor, improve the platform, and help content creators earn more revenue for their work,” Sen. Cantwell said. “The U.S. government has been trying to get ByteDance to divest since the 2020 Trump Administration Executive Order. I hope President Trump does not now become the one to blink and lose this crucial contest with China.” Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article
