Recent ICE Raids and Deportation Priorities
“Recent and increased ICE activity across the nation has raised serious concerns in our
communities. While individuals convicted of violent crimes should be prioritized for deportation,
we must not cast a wide net that sweeps up hardworking families who are building better lives in
our country.
“Imposing heavy-handed raids on our communities under the banner of “public safety”
undermines trust in law enforcement, harms our shared values, and risks tearing families apart.
“We need smart, fair enforcement that goes after real threats. Not parents dropping their kids off
at school or hard workers who strengthen our workforce, contribute to our economy, and enrich
our social fabric.
“I strongly urge the Trump Administration and Congress to focus on violent offenders and to
finally pass real immigration reform that brings security, accountability, and dignity to our
system.”
