Resources / Press Share on SPRINGFIELD: Congresswoman Budzinski and State Senator Turner Demand Improvements to Postal Performance Aug 21, 2026 Press SPRINGFIELD, IL – Yesterday, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) and State Senator Doris Turner held a press conference to address ongoing mail delivery and service issues in the Springfield area and call for improvements to ensure residents receive timely, reliable postal service. Earlier in the day, Budzinski toured the local Springfield USPS Processing and Distribution facility, where she heard directly from postal leadership about current operations and ongoing efforts to improve service in the Springfield area. This week, Senator Turner participated in a meeting with USPS Government Affairs leadership to discuss the current state of mail delivery in Springfield. “Every community across the country – from sprawling urban areas to rural farm towns – deserves reliable and efficient postal service,” Budzinski said. “That’s why I’ve made it a priority in Congress to find solutions to strengthen delivery, protect our postal employees and ensure communities get the service they deserve. Today’s meeting with Springfield USPS leadership was a productive conversation about the current state of service and the steps being taken to improve delivery. I’ll continue holding the Postal Service accountable, standing up for its workers and demanding reliable service across our communities.” In 2025, Budzinski co-founded the Congressional Postal Service Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of Members of Congress committed to strengthening the United States Postal Service (USPS), improving service for communities across the country and supporting the more than 600,000 USPS employees nationwide. ### Share on
