Congressman Sam Liccardo Votes Against Funding ICE
January 23, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives considered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill for FY26. Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16) voted against the bill and released the following statement: “I voted against giving another dime to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the Department of Homeland Security. “ICE has abandoned its mission of removing violent criminals in favor of detaining children, shooting Americans, and terrorizing our communities. “Before Congress approves any additional ICE funding, we must ensure that like every other law enforcement agency in this nation, ICE is held accountable to the standards embedded in the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. That begins with a full, transparent investigation into ICE’s deplorable and oppressive conduct in Minneapolis.” Issues : Upholding the Rule of Law
