Joyce Votes in Favor of Reopening Department of Homeland Security

Resources / Federal Budget Share on Joyce Votes in Favor of Reopening Department of Homeland Security Mar 28, 2026 Federal Budget Press WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement after voting in favor of the House Amendment to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 7147, the Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act, 2026. This bill reopens and fully funds the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through May 22, while longer-term negotiations continue “The Department of Homeland Security has gone without funding for roughly half of Fiscal Year 2026, an unacceptable amount of time as we face threats at home and abroad. This is yet another shutdown caused by my colleagues across the aisle, who have refused to fund DHS despite having reached a funding agreement in January. Congress’s job is to serve the American people, and holding up this funding for political points is irresponsible.” “It is Congress’s duty to ensure that federal employees are paid while they work hard to safeguard our nation. The bill I voted for fully funds DHS to ensure critical missions and personnel are resourced and ready. Keeping my constituents safe is my top priority, and I will not allow Congressional inaction to put that at risk.” ### Share on
