WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Freight, Pipelines, and Safety, was recently featured in a CNBC documentary on cargo theft.
The documentary highlights the surge in cargo theft, its impact on American businesses and our economy, and the threat it poses to our national security.
“Much of this activity is fueling other criminal activities, from human trafficking to counter-narcotics to potentially even terrorism. That’s one of the main reasons this needs to be taken seriously – seriously at the national level and regarded as one of many national security threats we’re facing right now,”said Young.
Youngconvened a subcommittee hearingin February titled “Grand Theft Cargo: Examining the Costly Threat to Consumers and the U.S. Supply Chain.”
