ICYMI : Senator Murray recounts her experience locking down inside the Capitol on January 6 th , 2021 Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), released the following statement in response to President Trump pardoning and commuting the sentences of convicted January 6 insurrectionists: “The individuals who stormed the capitol and staged an insurrection, especially those who committed acts of violence, should be held fully accountable. It’s a sad day for America when a President who refused to relinquish power and incited an insurrection returns to office years later only to grant violent criminals a Presidential pardon or commutation. “What the President is doing is wrong—I’m going to keep speaking the truth and fighting for our democracy. I will never let President Trump paper over the history and reality of that dark day or the lessons we must learn from it.” ###
