Larson Stands with the People of Ukraine in the Face of Trump Comments

Larson (CT-01) released the following statement condemning President Donald Trump’s comments falsely blaming Ukraine for their own invasion and attacking President Zelenskyy for his leadership. “I stand unwaveringly with Ukraine in the face of unprovoked Russian aggression,” said Larson. “The brave Ukrainian people have stood up to Vladimir Putin against all odds for the last three years. Our European allies and the United States have been shoulder to shoulder with them in this fight. President Trump turning his back on the people of Ukraine, blaming them for their own invasion, is nothing short of a capitulation to Vladimir Putin. Surrendering Ukraine’s sovereignty to the Putin regime does nothing to achieve peace, and only further emboldens Russia to threaten our NATO allies in Eastern Europe. Congressional Republicans need to stand up and decide whether they are with Russia, the invader, or the Ukrainian people. President Trump has made it clear where he stands.
