Senator Collins’ Statement on Her Vote Against Removing Federal Land Protections in Minnesota

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement after voting against a resolution to remove federal protections from land near the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota: “I opposed this resolution because I do not support opening land near the Minnesota Boundary Waters to potential mining activity. While I support domestic natural resource development, such development must be balanced with careful stewardship of our environment. I believe we can and should pursue economic growth without putting our nation’s irreplaceable public lands at risk.” ###
