Boyle Statement on Trump Closing U.S. Department of Education’s Philadelphia Office for Civil Rights
March 13, 2025 Press Release PHILADELPHIA, PA – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) released the following statement in response to reports that all employees in the Philadelphia regional Office for Civil Rights within the U.S. Department of Education had been fired. This office employs Philadelphians who work to protect students in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia from discrimination. “Once again, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are attacking good-paying Philadelphia jobs and betraying our neighbors who count on these critical services. These dedicated public servants work to protect our students, defend their civil rights, and ensure future generations get the education they deserve. Dismantling the Department of Education will only hurt our children and cause chaos across the country – I will continue doing everything I can to fight back.” ###
