House Passes Rep. Hudson’s Bipartisan Bill to Reauthorize the Congressional Award Program

December 16, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House of Representatives passed Congressman Richard Hudson’s (NC-09) H.R. 860, the Congressional Award Program Reauthorization Act, a bipartisan bill with Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-12) to extend the Congressional Award Program through fiscal year 2028. “The Congressional Award has helped generations of young people set goals, serve others, and push themselves to achieve more,” said Rep. Hudson. “This bipartisan bill ensures the program can continue to recognize the dedication of future leaders." The Congressional Award Program is Congress’s official youth recognition program, honoring Americans ages 14 to 23 for achievement in community service, personal development, physical fitness, and goal-setting. Hudson and Dingell’s bill ensures the program can continue operating without interruption. It makes a small modernization update to allow flexibility in how award medals are produced, while preserving the prestige of the Congressional Award. The legislation is bipartisan and aligns with a Senate companion bill that passed unanimously, reflecting broad support for encouraging civic engagement and leadership among young Americans.
