Statement on DHS Reconciliation Funding
Resources / Press Share on Statement on DHS Reconciliation Funding Jun 11, 2026 Press This week, I voted against a partisan reconciliation package that would have pre-funded ICE and DHS for the next 3 years. It’s completely fiscally irresponsible to use reconciliation to write a nearly $70 billion check to an agency with little oversight or accountability to taxpayers. Any DHS funding needs to go through the proper appropriations process so we can see exactly where the money will go and have the opportunity to conduct annual oversight. Back in January, I supported a DHS funding bill that included conditions, like body cameras, visible badge numbers, and an end to raids in sensitive locations like schools and churches. This current funding package includes none of these reforms and takes a reckless approach to government spending. I can’t in good conscience vote for it. #### Share on
