Rep. Crank Votes to Move Forward in the Budget Resolution Process

February 25, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Jeff Crank (CO-05) voted in favor of H. Con. Res. 14 , which moves the reconciliation process forward. This is the first step that Congress must take to move forward with the budget reconciliation process, directing House Committees to make spending, revenue and debt limit decisions. "There's a lot at stake; we must work towards better investments and greater savings within our federal government," said Rep. Crank. "By passing this resolution, House Republicans are working towards advancing President Trump's agenda." Background: The Congressional Budget Act of 1974 requires the concurrent resolution on the budget to include the following: Total spending (budget authority and outlays); Total revenues and the amount by which revenues should change; Spending broken down by each budget function; Public debt; and For Senate enforcement only, Social Security spending and revenues. After passing the budget resolution, Congress is one step closer to extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which would: Cut taxes for the average American by 22%; Double the Child Tax Credit; Cut the tax rate for small businesses by 17%; Save 7 million jobs; Save the median American family $1,700 a year in taxes.
