Golden sworn in for fourth term representing Maine’s 2nd Congressional District

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) today was sworn in as a member of the 119th Congress, his fourth term representing Maine’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. “It remains my great honor to represent the people of Maine in Congress,” Golden said. “I look forward to working with my new and returning colleagues, and the incoming administration, while focusing on what matters most to working families: good jobs, lowering the cost of living, maintaining public safety, and always respecting and protecting the things that make our way of life in Maine so special. As always, I will work with anyone — regardless of party — to deliver for our district.” Golden begins the 119th Congress with a proven track record as one of the most bipartisan members of the House . In 2024, he secured $26 million — the most of any Democrat in the House — for critical projects in his district, such as wastewater treatment improvements , modernization of law enforcement and early childhood education . Golden also saw an effort to build a mental health and substance use treatment facility for Maine veterans over the finish line, capping a decade of advocacy on behalf of his fellow veterans. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, he won important provisions in the NDAA to strengthen America’s naval fleet and protect good jobs for Mainers by securing contracts for the construction of additional DDG destroyers at Bath Iron Works . Golden has also been a fierce advocate for American manufacturing , Maine’s fishing industries and rural mail service . Golden represents the largest district east of the Mississippi River and one of the most rural districts in the country. He was first elected to Congress in 2018 and lives in Lewiston with his wife, Isobel, and their daughters, Rosemary and Shirley. ###
