Senator César J. Blanco Honored with the 2025 Legislative
Achievement Award by The American Association of Retired
Persons (AARP)
El Paso, Texas – Yesterday, Senator César J. Blanco was honored by the American Association
of Retired Persons (AARP) of Texas as the recipient of the 2025 Legislative Achievement Award.
This award recognizes lawmakers who championed legislation benefiting older Texans during
the 89th Legislative Session.
AARP Texas, representing more than 2.5 million Texans aged 50 and older, selected Senator
Blanco for his leadership on key legislation aimed at expanding access to affordable, high-
quality healthcare, lowering prescription drug costs, and strengthening consumer protections for
patients across the state. Senator Blanco was recognized for his work on several major bills,
including:
• SB 2857: Establishing a bulk purchasing program to reduce the cost of prescription
drugs for Texans.
• SB 911: Granting advanced practice registered nurses full practice authority to help
expand access to primary care.
Senator Blanco issued the following statement:
"I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition from AARP Texas. Older Texans are the
foundation of our communities: our parents, grandparents, mentors, and neighbors who have
spent their lives contributing to the strength and character of our state. They deserve to age with
access to affordable medications, quality health care, and the peace of mind that strong consumer
protections provide.
Championing these safeguards is a commitment to the well-being of older Texans. I’m grateful
to AARP for this honor and look forward to continuing our work to advance policies that
strengthen the health, security, and quality of life of older Texans.”
