Sen. Cruz Statement on Third Anniversary of October 7th Terrorist Attack

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following statement commemorating the third anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attack. Sen. Cruz said, “Today's anniversary is a day for mourning but also for renewing resolve. Over the last three years, Israel has demonstrated extraordinary courage, resolve, and skill in destroying the Hamas terrorists who committed the October 7th attack and in dismantling the Iranian-controlled terrorist armies that the Iranian regime had built across the Middle East. These operations were a necessary, measured, and just response to the attack, in which Hamas murdered and kidnapped dozens of Americans alongside over 1,200 Israelis and other nationals, and have immeasurably enhanced Israeli and American national security. As I said immediately after the attack, I am committed to doing everything in my power and using every resource at my disposal to ensure that America's policy is absolutely unequivocal: to ensure Israel has the military and diplomatic support to utterly eradicate Hamas, for as long as it takes.” BACKGROUND: In October 2023, Sen. Cruz introduced the Hamas Sanctions Act , legislation to impose sanctions on Hamas, its members and affiliates, and countries that provide funding and territory for Hamas operations. In April 2025, Sen. Cruz introduced the LIABLE Act , legislation to allow American victims of terrorism, including victims of the terrorist attack on October 7th, to sue international organizations that provide material support to designated terrorist groups. In May 2026, Sen. Cruz led an effort urging President Trump to dismantle UNRWA after the USAID Office of Inspector General identified multiple UNRWA employees who participated in the October 7 terrorist attack, as well as 14 others affiliated with Hamas.
