Hoeven: Red River Valley & Western Railroad Receives $23.6 Million for Rail Infrastructure Improvements

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the Red River Valley & Western Railroad (RRVW) has received a $23.6 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program. Hoeven led the North Dakota Congressional delegation in sending a letter of support for RRVW’s grant application to modernize aging rail infrastructure earlier this year. The funding will support the replacement of approximately 26 miles of rail and the construction of a new siding near Wahpeton to improve safety and efficiency. In addition, the FRA awarded $690,825 to Bottineau County through the CRISI Program to support rail safety improvements, including a railroad crossing near a school zone and increased grain-handling capacity. “These investments will help improve rail safety, increase efficiency and strengthen North Dakota’s transportation infrastructure,” said Hoeven. “Reliable rail service is essential to getting our agricultural and energy products to market, and these projects will help support our producers, businesses and communities across the state.” Full text of the letter can be found here . -###-
