In the 20th and 21st centuries, nearly 625,000 American servicemembers have made the ultimate sacrifice and over the past 25 years have been survived by nearly 15,000 children. “The children who lose a parent in military service to our nation live with a sacrifice they carry for a lifetime,” said Senator Rosen. “I am proud to join colleagues from both sides of the aisle to designate August 1st as Gold Star Children’s Day to honor them and recognize their sacrifice when they lose a parent. I will continue fighting for our servicemembers and their families.” Senator Rosen has made it one of her priorities to support Gold Star families. She recently co-led a bipartisan bill to increase the death gratuity payment given to families of fallen servicemembers in line with inflation and current prices. Senator Rosen also helped introduce the CHAMPVA Children’s Care Protection Act , which would allow children and surviving dependents of disabled veterans to remain eligible for health care coverage through the VA until they are 26 years old, aligning with the Affordable Care Act . Last Congress, Senator Rosen helped introduce and pass the Love Lives On Act in the Senate, which would have allowed surviving Gold Star spouses to retain their benefits upon remarrying before the age of 55. She is also an original cosponsor of the bill this Congress. ### Facebook-f Instagram Youtube Flickr Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos
