Congressman Garamendi Working to Bring Jobs and Housing to the District
Fairfield, CA — Today, U.S. Representative John Garamendi (CA-08) attended several meetings in his district focused on bringing jobs, lowering food costs, and advancing military construction (MILCON) projects. Congressman Garamendi participated in the Solano County Manufacturing Roundtable to discuss expanding the manufacturing base in Solano County, held a meeting at Travis Air Force Base to ensure progress on several MILCON projects he has promoted, and met with the head of the Community Housing Development Corporation (CHDC) to discuss progress in expanding a public grocery store in the district, which will help bring down grocery costs. “As Donald Trump’s and Congressional Republicans’ policies drive up food and housing costs, I’m working to bring them down for working families in my district,” said Congressman Garamendi. “I’m proud to meet with leaders in our district who are creating new jobs, making groceries more affordable, and building affordable homes.” Congressman Garamendi met with the Solano Economic Development Corporation and spoke at the Solano County Manufacturing Roundtable to discuss opportunities to create jobs to Solano County. Congressman Garamendi and staff also met with leaders at Travis Air Force Base to discuss the latest developments in several military construction projects. These projects create valuable construction jobs and help the critical mission of the base. Congressman Garamendi and staff also met with CHDC to discuss progress on the community-run public grocery store, which aims to combat food deserts in the district and sell food and essential goods at lower prices than competing grocers. This meeting comes after Congressman Garamendi secured over $500,000 in funding for this project. ###
