September 27, 2025 Press Release Portland, OR – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) released the following statement following President Trump’s announcement that he would deploy federal troops to Oregon. “Oregon did not ask for federal agents, nor does it want them. Despite this fact, Trump is illegally abusing his power by sending troops to our state. “The President is sending troops here to push his false narrative about our communities, but make no mistake, deploying the military into our communities makes us less safe. This gross federal overreach is Trump’s attempt to limit the rights and freedoms of his perceived enemies so he can accumulate more power. “Federal courts already ruled it was illegal when Trump sent troops to California.
