Rep. Nancy Mace Fires Back At Lindsay Clancy Attorney, Doubles Down On Death Penalty

(Sept. 16, 2026) – Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) is firing back at Kevin Reddington, defense attorney for Lindsay Clancy, after Reddington publicly rebuked her calls for Clancy to face the death penalty following the mistrial in the deaths of her three children. Congresswoman Mace responded: "I’m not about to be lectured on what a Congresswoman knows by the man whose job it is to make sure three dead children never get the last word. “Kevin Reddington spent 50 years at the Massachusetts bar, then asked the President for a federal pardon in a state murder case. Every first-year law student knows that's impossible. “Mr. Reddington is right that I've never sat in his courtroom. Neither will Cora, Dawson, or Callan. That's the point." After Mace called for the harshest punishment possible for child murderer Lindsay Clancy, Reddington chose to respond publicly. Reddington responded: ( LINK ) “Nancy Mace does not know this case, has never seen the evidence, and has never sat in that courtroom. Lindsay Clancy has not been convicted of anything, and Massachusetts has not had a death penalty in more than forty years. “A congresswoman from South Carolina calling for a public execution is not law. It is a stunt, and its only purpose is to inflame the public against a woman whose case is still before the Court. I will deal with that in court, not on television. My client was a mother suffering from postpartum psychosis. That is what this case is about, and that is where my attention stays." This also comes after Reddington went on national television following the mistrial to ask President Trump for a federal pardon in a state case, which is legally impossible. Mace added, “Any attorney who petitions the President for a federal pardon in a state case has forfeited the right to lecture anyone on what the law says.
