Rep. Ciscomani Supports Measure to Prevent Government Shutdown

July 22, 2026 Press Release 'I've never voted to shut down the government because I know the consequences are real for Southern Arizona and my constituents deserve a government that works' Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, U.S. Representative Juan Ciscomani voted for a short-term continuing resolution to extend government funding through December 4, 2026, helping prevent a government shutdown and ensuring critical services continue for Southern Arizona families, federal workers, and communities. H.R. 9770, Making continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2027 , passed the House floor with bipartisan support with a vote of 220 to 205. Rep. Ciscomani has never supported a government shutdown due to the damaging and real consequences it has on the livelihoods of Southern Arizonans. After the vote, the Representative issued the following statement on social media : "Tonight I voted to temporarily extend this fiscal year’s funding until December 4, 2026.  I've never voted to shut down the government because I know the consequences are real for Southern Arizona and my constituents deserve a government that works. This is merely a temporary solution. The work to fully fund our government services continues. As Arizona’s only appropriator, I am committed to delivering a full-year funding bill through the House while continuing to deliver for Arizona's Sixth District, including bringing home more than $40 million this year in Community Project Funding for our communities, in addition to the $60 million secured in years past.
