Crow Introduces Bill to Extend Temporary Protected Status for Ukrainians

October 7, 2026 Press Release AURORA — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO), a former paratrooper and Army Ranger who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and House Armed Services Committee, introduced legislation that will protect Ukrainian nationals already in the U.S. against the threat of deportation by extending their Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Crow’s bill provides certainty and stability for Ukrainians currently in the U.S. by extending TPS for this group through June 2029. TPS for Ukrainian nationals is currently set to expire on October 19, 2026, despite continued threats facing the country from Russian aggression. Passing Crow’s legislation would ensure that temporary protections for Ukrainian nationals are codified into law past October and not solely up to the whims of any President. TPS allows foreign nationals who cannot return home due to violence, conflict, and instability to live and work in the U.S. Under TPS, individuals are rigorously and continuously vetted before and after they receive this status. Crow introduced the bill alongside Congressmen Bill Keating (D-MA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). It was introduced in the Senate by Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Chris Coons (D-DE), and Bill Cassidy (R-LA). “Russia continues its illegal and unprovoked attacks on Ukraine. Vladimir Putin is attacking Ukrainian schools, homes, hospitals, and energy infrastructure across the country with drones, ballistic missiles, and aerial bombs. Millions of Ukrainian women, children, and refugees have fled the violence fearing for their lives. America must continue to stand with the people of Ukraine,” said Congressman Crow . Congressman Crow has been a strong supporter of the Ukrainian people. In December 2021, just before Russia’s full-scale invasion, Congressman Crow led a delegation to Kyiv to reaffirm America’s commitment to Ukraine. When the invasion began, he immediately called for the U.S. to send military and humanitarian support to Ukraine, for international sanctions against Russia, and for a stronger NATO alliance to meet these new security threats. Weeks later, as Ukrainians fled their homes, Congressman Crow and other members advocated for an expedited immigration status for Ukrainians to the U.S. Crow has visited Ukraine several times since Russia’s invasion. The Congressman has been one of the earliest and strongest supporters of military , development , and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine. He voted for, and strongly advocated for, every supplemental package provided to Ukraine. Full text of the bill is available here . ### Issues : National Security
