Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sen. Roger Marshall and Colleagues to Introduce the SHORT Act
April 1, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Today, Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Roger Marshall and their colleagues in announcing the
Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act
. This bill removes short-barreled rifles (SBRs) from the burdensome registration, regulation, and taxation requirements of the National Firearms Act (NFA), unwinding the harmful impact of a Biden-era regulation that sought to re-classify millions of commonly owned pistol-braced firearms as SBRs.
Senator Rick Scott
said, “I’m a proud supporter of the 2nd Amendment and will always work to fight against the far-left’s attempts to infringe on the rights of law-abiding Americans. Our bill, the
SHORT Act
, supports the 2nd amendment and the actions of President Trump and ATF Acting Director Kash Patel to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners.”
Senator Roger Marshall
said, “’Shall not be infringed’ is crystal clear – and the Biden-era abuses of the Constitutionally protected rights of gun owners across the country need to be undone. The
SHORT Act
takes a step toward rolling back nonsensical regulations that the National Firearms Act has placed upon gun owners. I challenge my colleagues in both chambers to pass this legislation and join me in fully restoring and protecting our God-given Second Amendment rights.”
The bill is cosponsored by Sens. Cynthia Lummis, Tommy Tuberville, Kevin Cramer, Jim Risch, Mike Crapo, Jim Justice, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Katie Britt, Tim Sheehy, and Pete Ricketts, and is supported by Gun Owners of America and the National Association of Gun Rights. Representative Andrew Clyde introduced an identical bill in the U.S. House.
