Rep. Latimer Marks 100 Days in Office
April 14, 2025 Press Release WHITE PLAINS, NY—Today U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) marked 100 days of representing Westchester and the Bronx in Congress. Rep. Latimer is serving on the Foreign Affairs and Small Business Committees. “This has been, to be sure, an extremely eventful first 100 days in office. It is hard to believe that events have moved this quickly in so short a timeframe. It is an honor to serve in Congress, even in these unusually difficult times,” said Rep. Latimer. “My Democratic colleagues and I have been standing up to the misguided policies of the new Trump Administration. Our opposition to those actions include: signing onto lawsuits, attending rallies, and introducing legislation that provides an alternate vision for our country. And there is certainly much more work to do.” Some highlights from Rep. Latimer’s first three months include: His bipartisan bill passed the House Small Business Committee unanimously last month and is headed to the House floor He signed on to six amicus briefs to stop the Trump Administration's actions in court He led a rally in White Plains against the so-called SAVE Act and spoke at several rallies with senior citizens and organized labor to stop cuts to Social Security His staff has brought back almost $250,000 in government benefits to residents of his district in Westchester and the Bronx His staff has hosted three mobile office hours to assist neighbors with navigating the bureaucratic federal government, with many more to come He has visited or scheduled visits to town and village boards in 12 of the 26 jurisdictions in our district He has delivered 20 floor speeches on a variety of issues that deserve attention: tariffs; Social Security cuts; Ukraine and Canada; and the proposed Republican budget.
