Dexter Slams Repeal of Bedrock Environmental Finding

July 31, 2025 Press Release PORTLAND, OR — Today, Congresswoman Dexter released the following statement in response to the formal rescission of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) endangerment finding , which found that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane pose a threat to human lives. The endangerment finding has long served as the legal backing in the federal government’s ability to fight the climate crisis. “There is no question that greenhouse gases are cooking our planet and putting lives at risk. As a lung and critical care physician, I’ve seen the consequences firsthand. Lungs ravaged by wildfire smoke. Bodies overwhelmed by heat stroke. This isn’t theoretical. It is very real and very deadly. “Donald Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin ignored this devastating reality by repealing the endangerment finding so their campaign donors could cash in on human suffering. By gutting the legal backbone of our climate protections, Trump once again showed he cares more about fossil fuel executives than the air our children breathe. I will combat this rollback with every tool at my disposal—legislation, litigation, and relentless public pressure.” Congresswoman Dexter serves as the top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. She is a co-chair of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Lands, Waters, and Nature Task Force. ### Issues : Climate
