Thompson Issues Statement on Senate Passage of Government Funding BILL

March 14, 2025 Press Release Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement in response to the Senate passing the Congressional Republicans’ disastrous funding bill: "Congress’ job isn’t to write a blank check to the President. Our job is to pass a bill that directs the President to fund the services and priorities that matter most to the American people. “Congressional Republicans’ partisan funding bill is dangerous. That’s why House Democrats stood united and voted “No” to protect the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and veterans benefits millions of Americans rely on every day. And I thank our California Senators, Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff, and the other senators who stood with us and opposed this bill as well. "It’s unthinkable that our party’s leadership in the Senate folded to the President and greenlit this bill that slashes critical services and hands this destructive administration a blank check.
