Clawing back burdensome regulations and lowering costs for Ohioans

Dear friends and neighbors, When Washington creates unnecessary regulation, Ohio families end up paying the price. That’s why I’ve been working to roll back the Biden-era energy mandates that drive up costs, limit consumer choices, and make everyday products more expensive. Making everyday products more affordable Last year, I introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to reverse a Biden-era regulation that imposed additional energy-efficiency standards on an array of the appliances and commercial equipment. These requirements affected products that Ohioans rely on daily, including dishwashers, washers, air conditions, and heat pumps. The president signed the resolution into law, removing unnecessary barriers, giving consumers more options and helping to lower costs. This was my first bill to become law. Protecting consumer choice Ohioans should not be forced to follow California’s lead when it comes to policies that make everyday life more expensive and less convenient. I recently continued this work by joining my colleagues in introducing several CRA resolutions aimed at protecting consumer choice and keeping vehicle prices affordable. I am leading a resolution to overturn a Biden-era waiver allowing California to require other states to adopt its Advanced Clean Cars II standards, including stricter emissions requirements and a phaseout of new gas-powered vehicle sales. Rejecting costly vehicle mandates I am also co-leading three additional resolutions to reverse regulations affecting passenger vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and small off-road engines used in lawn and garden equipment. These mandates would accelerate a government-driven shift toward electric vehicles, limit the availability of gas-powered vehicles, and impose burdens on consumer, workers, small businesses and manufacturers. Ohioans should have the liberty to make choices about their everyday life, and not have to make less convenient and more expensive choices. Putting Ohioans back in control Energy policies should be focused on affordability, reliability, and common sense—not regulations that make it harder for families to purchase the products they need or for businesses to succeed. I’ll keep working to remove unnecessary red tape, lower costs, protect consumer choice, and put Ohioans back in control. We’re here to help Customer service is my top priority.
