Griffith Announces $100,841 ARC Grant to Abingdon’s EO Companies, Partner of United Way of SWVA
The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded EO Companies, based in Abingdon, Virginia, a $100,841 grant. EO Companies is a separate entity that works in partnership with the United Way of Southwest Virginia. The funding will support a disaster recovery coordinator role and facilitate United Way efforts in providing Hurricane Helene relief resources to localities in Southwest Virginia. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “This ARC grant for more than $100,000 helps EO Companies and United Way of Southwest Virginia manage disaster recovery activities.” BACKGROUND EO Companies serves as a fiscal agent in partnership with the United Way of Southwest Virginia. Recently, it was reported that the United Way raised more than $2 million for Helene recovery. The money will be directly distributed to 14 localities affected by Helene to support individual assistance and recovery efforts. The United Way of Southwest Virginia will work with local Emergency Management personnel, local officials and laborers to evaluate local needs, manage work orders and assist with other disaster recovery activities. ###
