Husted visits Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Kitchen Collective in Portsmouth, and Ohio small businesses

“From supporting healthy pregnancies and child development to investing in our communities and helping small businesses grow, these investments make a real difference for Ohio families and workers.” COLUMBUS – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today visited Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus and Kitchen Collective in Portsmouth to highlight how federal investments are supporting Ohio families. He also visited two Ohio small businesses to hear directly about the challenges they are facing. “Healthy families are the cornerstone of a strong America. From supporting healthy pregnancies and child development to investing in our communities and helping small businesses grow, these investments make a real difference for Ohio families and workers,” said Husted. At Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Husted joined Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Administrator Tom Engels and Deputy Administrator Margaret Bush to highlight how federal investments through the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program support healthier pregnancies and stronger families. The event highlighted HRSA’s $525 million investment in FY 2026 MIECHV Program awards to support evidence-based home visiting services in all 50 states, which Husted supported in the U.S. Senate. “Small businesses are the backbone of communities across Ohio, and we need to make it easier for them to grow, invest and create jobs. I’ll continue working to make sure Ohio’s entrepreneurs have the tools and resources they need to succeed,” said Husted. In Portsmouth, Husted visited Kitchen Collective, a nonprofit shared-use commercial kitchen and event space in downtown Portsmouth, to discuss how federal investments he helped secure will support the renovation of two downtown buildings and address local housing affordability. Husted also visited Adam’s Flying Pig Coffee House in Wheelersburg and The Shakery: Eats & Treats in Ironton to hear directly from small business owners about the challenges they face and discuss his work in the Senate to support Ohio’s small businesses. These visits build on Husted’s work to help Ohio workers, manufacturers and small businesses. In the Senate, Husted is supporting: Made in America Manufacturing Financing Act : This bill would expand access to growth capital for small U.S.-based manufacturers. Investing in All of America Act: This bill would expand access to capital for small businesses in rural and low-income communities, as well as those in the manufacturing and critical technology sectors. AI for Mainstreet Act: This bill would provide training, guidance and support to American small businesses looking to implement AI into their businesses. Repealing Big Brother Overreach Act: This bill would eliminate the requirement for small businesses to report beneficial ownership information to the Treasury Department, which is burdensome and overreaching. Husted also supported the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which includes major provisions for small businesses and their workforce: Cuts taxes on tips and overtime, saving tipped and overtime workers up to $1,750 per year. Makes the 20% small business tax deduction permanent. This will deliver $4,600 in average tax relief to 8 million entrepreneurs around the country. This will create 1.2 million jobs annually for the next 10 years. Doubles the small business expensing limits for new investments in machinery, equipment and software. Includes a $7,000 tax cut for 12 million small business owners.
