Miller-Meeks Leads Roundtable with Restaurant and Hotel Owners in Clinton

August 21, 2025 Press Release Clinton, IA – U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) led a roundtable with restaurant and hotel owners from across Iowa’s First District to discuss how the pro-growth provisions in the reconciliation bill are supporting small businesses, workers, and local communities. At the roundtable, participants discussed key provisions including Section 199A, which gives small businesses a 20% tax deduction, “No Tax on Overtime”, and “No Tax on Tips”. These reforms are designed to give small business owners tax certainty, empower employees to keep more of their hard-earned pay, and encourage reinvestment in Iowa’s economy. “Iowa’s small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from restaurant and hotel owners about how reconciliation’s pro-growth provisions are making a difference,” said Miller-Meeks . “Their insights are invaluable as we continue to work together to grow jobs, cut red tape, and expand opportunity here in Iowa.” In addition to tax reforms, the conversation also covered regulatory barriers that small business owners face and ways Congress can help reduce unnecessary burdens so more resources can go directly toward supporting employees and customers. This Clinton roundtable follows Miller-Meeks’ Made in America Manufacturing Tour earlier this week, underscoring her ongoing commitment to ensuring Iowa’s businesses, large and small, have the tools they need to thrive and continue driving economic growth.
