Congressman Cohen Announces $4.2 Million in FEMA Grants for Tipton County, Covington and Munford

Image August 28, 2026 Press Release Construction of a tornado safe room and early warning systems WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that Tipton County, Covington and Munford will share $4,222,558 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The City of Covington will receive $3,743,581 to build a multi-purpose facility that can double as a Community Safe Room adjacent to the Covington Police Station. Its maximum occupancy would be 736. Tipton County will receive $299,171 and Munford will receive $179,606 for weather warning and alert systems. Congressman Cohen made the following statement: “Tipton County has taken it on the chin recently with severe weather.
