Congressman Nick Langworthy Announces EPA Grant to Monitor Water Quality at Lake Erie Beaches

June 2, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced that New York State has been awarded $328,000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for monitoring water quality at Great Lake beaches and to notify the public if elevated levels of illness-causing bacteria make swimming unsafe. This funding is authorized by the Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health (BEACHES) Act and it ensures that every American has access to clean and safe water. Each goal of the BEACHES Act supports the EPA’s “Powering the Great American Comeback” initiative. “It is crucial that our beach communities along Lake Erie received this funding to ensure the beaches are safe and open for business,” said Congressman Langworthy. “I will always be an advocate of the public receiving the information they need to enjoy all Lake Erie has to offer – including water sports, beachgoing, and recreation.” Issues : Grant Announcements
