Assistant Leader Neguse Issues Statement on Trump Administration’s Mass Firings at DOI

February 14, 2025 Press Release Lafayette, CO — House Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse (CO-02) issued the following statement after public reporting that thousands of federal probationary employees have been fired en masse, including at the United States Forest Service (USFS) , Department of the Interior (DOI) , and elsewhere: “President Trump’s mass terminations are a striking blow to the committed, hard-working federal employees who keep this country up and running. A workforce that’s responsible for the management of critical programs, including those in my home state of Colorado that do everything from fighting fires to protecting our public lands. Laying off hundreds of thousands of employees at a time and making it that much harder for Americans to afford the increasing cost of living is beyond reckless, which is why we are imploring the administration to reverse course without delay.” ###
