Congresswoman Brown Applauds WNBA Return to Cleveland

Image June 30, 2025 Press Release Cleveland, OH – Today, the WNBA announced that Cleveland has been awarded the league’s 16 th franchise, beginning play in 2028. Earlier this year, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) wrote WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert in support of Cleveland’s bid, underscoring how an expansion team would catalyze the city’s ongoing investments in development, entertainment, and equitable economic growth. Congresswoman Brown releases the following statement: “I am thrilled to welcome the WNBA back to Cleveland. This is a huge win for our community, our economy, and our downtown.
