Rep. McDowell Introduces Bill to Strengthen Maritime Drug Enforcement and Improve Coast Guard Readiness
Washington, D.C. –Yesterday, on March 26, Congressman Addison McDowell introduced H.R. 2351, which aims to strengthen maritime law enforcement and the Coast Guard’s ability to respond to opioid overdoses, especially those involving fentanyl, and released the following statement.
“Our Coast Guard is the first line of defense against illegal drugs reaching American shores, and this bill ensures they have what they need to respond swiftly and effectively," said Congressman McDowell. "It's long overdue that we close the loopholes traffickers exploit and ensure the Coast Guard has the support it needs.”
H.R. 2351 has been referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure for further consideration.
