Congresswoman Ross Statement on Trump’s Decision to Cut Aid for Western North Carolina

Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released the following statement following reports that President Trump has denied Gov. Stein’s request to maintain some federal aid meant for the reconstruction and recovery of Western North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene: “The people of Western North Carolina have suffered enough since Hurricane Helene. They desperately need the full support of the federal government as they progress on the long, difficult road to full recovery. “Members of our congressional delegation from both parties wrote seeking the continuation of FEMA matching funds. President Trump’s decision to deny this request is a slap in the face to the Western North Carolinians he promised to support. “The Administration should reconsider this decision immediately. North Carolina deserves better.”
